Birmingham City University Union of Students

The Birmingham City University Union of Students provides the focal point for university-wide social activities. A Union ‘hub’ is located on Level 2 of the tic, with the main Union building just a fifteen minute bus journey away on the Perry Barr campus.

The link of tic students to the Union is underlined by the 2004/05 Union’s President, Jason Hartley, a former tic student who is now enjoying his second term in office.

The Union helped kick-off the new academic year at the tic with the ‘Refreshers’ party at Millennium Point. In the shadows of the futuristic IMAX Cinema, professional DJ’s shared the bill with some of the tic’s own musical talent. Also, the main Birmingham City University freshers event took place in the Air nightclub in the city centre – a short stroll for tic students!

There is, however, much more to the Union than bars and parties. There are societies catering for a wide range of interests, sports clubs, support and advice services as well as volunteering and skills training opportunities.
