tic students enjoy the benefits of being part of both a large vibrant University and their own close-knit faculty community in the heart of Birmingham city centre.
The tic’s home, in the £114million Millennium Point complex, provides a friendly environment where the people on your course and your other friends are never far away.
The Café tic and, in the summer, the open space of the Millennium Point garden, provide ideal places to meet and congregate. Situated in the same neighbourhood as Birmingham City University’s Birmingham Institute of Art and Design and another city university, a selection of student-oriented pubs are also located within five minutes walk. These offer food and refreshments in the daytime and buzz with the local student population in the evening.
The central shopping and entertainment area of the city, including the £500 million Bullring development is just ten minutes walk from the tic, as is live music and club nights at the Carling Academy Birmingham.
The rejuvenated heart of the city now boasts the facilities expected of any large European city. This hasn’t, however, made it an expensive unwelcoming place for students. As a city with three Universities, you are still sure to find plenty of shops offering student discounts and there are student nights at various bars and clubs.

In addition to the city centre social scene, the wider Birmingham City University community is never far away. The tic already ‘shares’ the city centre with Birmingham City University’s BIAD and the Birmingham Conservatoire, whilst the Perry Barr campus is just fifteen minutes away by one of 9 bus routes. University-wide social activities are co-ordinated by Birmingham City University’s active Union of Students.
