Technology Days

Building VehichlesThe tic’s ‘Innovative Technology’ week of technology awareness days for year 12 students takes place annually in July.

These days provide students with a unique opportunity to:

• Get hands-on experience of a variety of technologies
• Experience a working University environment
• Discuss future higher education plans with University staff
• Build a portfolio of experiences that will be useful to enhance a CV or UCAS personal statement

The workshops held in 2004 included:

Building RobotsE-media
• Digital Video Production – directing, shooting and editing a one minute script
• Playing with interactivity – creating a computer game

Robotics
• Creating a ‘light-fearing’ PHOBOtic robot dragster

Automotive
• Car power systems.
• ‘Shake Rattle and Roll’ – noise and vibration testing
• Cars and the environment.

Television ProductionComputer Aided Design
• Virtual Engineering using industry standard systems

Cisco Systems
• Wired and wireless Local Area Networks
• Create a home Local Area Network
